EMBRACE THE WORLD - Outdoor Communities in a Time of Climate Change
Best Practices
With the Embrace the World project, four environmental organisations have joined forces to reconnect today's young Europeans with the nature. The aim of this project is to empower teachers and educators across Europe through proven, concrete tools that strengthen nature education, community engagement and mental health.
This booklet is the result of two years of collaboration. During this period, over 1,000 young people participated in nature-based activities, which helped us refine a wide range of exercises and methods. These tools are designed for use in both formal and informal educational contexts and can be adapted to different age groups and contexts.
By anchoring climate and environmental learning in outdoor experiences, Embrace the World enables young people to feel the connection between nature and the global challenges we face. This practical approach promotes climate literacy, ecological awareness and a renewed sense of agency at local, national and European level.
Please note: The material is in English. For a Danish translation of the practical exercises and results of the project, please refer to the book ‘Unge, bøgeblade og klimakamp’ (Young People, Beech Leaves and the Climate Struggle), which can be ordered free of charge by writing to anna@noah.dk or downloaded here on the website.
The project Embrace the World - Outdoor Communities in a Time of Climate Change has been made possible with financial support from Friluftsrådet, Villum Fonden og Erasmus+.
